Just my kind of story. The good news is that college enrollment was up for the 2023-2024 school year.

I am wondering, did the pandemic play a role in this decline?

It seems the pandemic may have made it worse in part because many schools kept the same prices even though they were all online, which may have caused people to question why. But the decline seems to have started before 2019 so the roots appear to have begun before.

I think the post-pandemic recovery had a bit to with it too. Some students left as a result of better opportunities. Higher-ed does better in poorer economic environments. However, there are a number of students who returned for at least some programs when they had extra pandemic-related money.
